Here are our insider’s tips on places to check out while you are here in Ithaca - you won’t regret it!


Purity Ice Cream - Our favorite place to get ice cream (and was founded by a Cornell grad!). They have expanded and offer lunch, chocolate, cookies, cupcakes and more! Being an “ice cream scooper” was my first real job. Check it out!

MIX Kitchen & Bar - A dynamic dining experience in Ithaca, NY. MIX is modern, yet with a relaxed and fun atmosphere. An impressive steakhouse with a multi ethnic small plate menu, which offers guests a chance to experience multiple dishes and flavors throughout their meal. Creative cocktails and decadent desserts add to the exciting atmosphere that truly makes MIX a unique dining spot in Ithaca!

Boatyard Grill - Located on Inlet Island next to their working marina, it’s not quite a speak-easy, but it’s tucked away on the water.  They are a fantastic restaurant with live wood grilled steaks, fresh seafood, burgers, sandwiches and more.  The festive environment is unique and there is live music in the summer.

Glenwood Pines - This casual restaurant offers good food, good drinks, and good service. it has been a family family for many years. Glenwood is known worldwide for their Pinesburger, Bloody Mary, and Fish Fry.

Ithaca Beer Company - Is an award-winning beer company and was was voted as one of the top 12 brewery experiences in New York State. Experience a flight or check out their food, its an educational and enjoyable experience.

Cayuga Wine Trail - Did you know that the Cayuga Lake Wine Trail is the oldest wine trail in the United States? That's right! There are over 25 wineries on this lake alone with over 120 wineries in Finger Lakes wine region.

Ithaca Farmer’s Market - Try the best local produce in the region, incredible food vendors, bakeries, and wood fired pizza! Ithaca Farmers Market is a busy place, from open to close. You will also find unique regional items made in and around the Ithaca area for sale.

Cornell University Slope & Clock Tower - The Cornell Chimes are the university's oldest musical tradition with 21 chimes, played times a day for students and local Ithaca residents to enjoy during the academic year. If you are up for the climb (161 steps), you can experience the musical tradition and panoramic views.

Suspension Bridge - Suspension Bridge is a pedestrian footbridge that spans the Fall Creek Gorge behind Risley Hall on Cornell campus, originally designed by professors of structural and civil engineering at Cornell. Get a great bird’s-eye view!

Black Diamond Trail - This trail is linchpin for connecting Ithaca’s numerous existing trails and parks through an off-road trail network . Used by cyclists, walkers, runners, etc., you will see streams, brooks, woodlands, gorges, and waterfalls. This is only the 1st of 3 phases for this trail - ultimately connect three major gorge state parks.

Taughannock Falls - It’s amazing how many fantastic waterfalls there are hidden away in Central NY. Taughannock’s cascade is 215’ - don’t forget your camera!

Ithaca Festival (or any festival!) - From the Apple Festival, to the Chili Festival, from the Ice Festival to the Ithaca Festival. They are all fun and give us and opportunity to get
